Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Central The Church On The Hill is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Central members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple making cookies to preparing the church bulletins.
Mission Outreach
Central is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We have teamed up with CEF, Converge worldwide, and are active in supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. The six missionaries we support are located in five countries— Malaysia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and Namibia. In addition to supporting these missionaries, our cafe, Higher Grounds, is partnered with Land of a Thousand Hills to provide microloans to widows, bikes to coffee farmers, and higher than fair wage on coffee beans. Throughout the year the cafe also does fundraisers. Last year we sent three goats, nine chickens, and a few ducks through World Vision. This year we are partnering with Project: AK47 to help save children soldiers. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.
Music
God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Central, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.
Ushers and Greeters
The usher and greeter team at Central fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Central. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for the purpose of loving God and loving people. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio format. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.
Prayer Warriors
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Central is a body of believers dependent upon prayer and committed to God’s sovereignty. Throughout the week, volunteers to our Prayer Warriors team, pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs.
Children’s Church
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Central holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.
Central Youth
Some of the most vital decisions for life are made in the teen years; Central puts a huge emphasis on their youth ministry. Strong biblical teaching paired with a relaxed atmosphere help bring a culturally relevant message to youth. If we either have a Bible open or throwing around a Frisbee, you can bet we will do it all for the glory of God. To get the latest on what Central Youth is doing, visit our Facebook page.
Gardening for God
First impressions really do matter. The beautiful 10 acres that Central is located on doesn’t take care of itself. The grounds here take daily maintenance to stay beautiful and invite the public in. A great way to serve in this ministry is the Adopt-a-Plot program where you can adopt an area of the church grounds to create your own beautiful little garden to maintain.
